Brussels (Bruxelles), Belgium, 1020 Phone: +32 2 475 47 75 Website The Atomium is a landmark building in Brussels, originally constructed for the 1958 Brussels World's Fair (Expo 58). Shaped to represent a body-centered cubic iron crystal magnified 165 billion times, it comprises nine stainless steel spheres each 59 feet (18 meters) in diameter and weighing 276 tons (250 tonnes), interconnected by 20 tubes measuring 11 feet (3.3 meters) in diameter, with a total height of 335 feet (102 meters) and a mass of approximately 2,760 tons (2,500 tonnes). It is now a museum.
Hours of operation: Monday through Sunday 10.00 (10:00 am) to 18.00 (6:00 pm). Closed from January 19th to February 6th 2026 for annual maintenance. They may close earlier for exceptional reasons: check website to verify.
Admission: You do not have to pay admission to access the ground floor gift shop or the cafeteria. You must pay admission to access the upper levels. Adult (18-64) €16, Senior (65 and over) €14, Child (taller than 46 inches/115cm to 17 years old) €8,50, Child (less than 46 inches/115cm tall) Free.
The Atomium does not have private or guarded parking facilities. The parking around the Atomium is not guarded.
Machine 1 is at the upper level near the elevator. Cost to press: €2 (A 2€ coin or two 1€ coins only Machine does not give change). Machine also accepts credit cards. The "penny" will be pressed on a supplied 5 Euro cent. Once you insert the coins, wait 5 seconds for the supplied 5 Euro cent to drop into place before cranking the handle. Designs all have a beaded border:
