This machine is truly a collector’s challenge! The facility is very rarely open as it is only run by volunteers and doesn’t have a consistent schedule. I tried calling this facility in advance, but got no response because of these circumstances.
Google simply says “Temporarily closed.” I decided to drive the 2 hours anyway and check it out, only to find that it was indeed closed. After asking at the Dollar General across the street, then going to the Town Hall building and talking to the Town Clerk upstairs, I was told to connect with one of the workers who was working down the street.
This woman graciously went back to the facility with me and let me in to press the pennies, and then locked the building back up afterwards. If you are wanting these pennies, you will have to check with the Town Clerk like I did.
All have 'Island Pond Vermont ('VT') on them. Designs are:
1) Moose,
2) House,
3) 'God Bless America', US Flag,
4) 'Snowmobile Capitol', man on snowmobile.

The machine is working relatively well (1 design presses perfectly, 1 design was pretty close to perfect, and 2 designs were slightly misaligned and got slightly cut off). It is a hand crank machine and coins are needed. Cost: 2 quarters and 1 penny per design (51 cents). Number of Designs: 4.
It’s very unlikely that they rotate designs or fix up this machine, as the facility is rarely used. The machine is located at the back of the building. |
