The Downing Planetarium at California State University, Fresno offers a 73-seat star theater with a 30-foot hemispherical dome. The planetarium features a Minolta MS-10 star projector and can fill the entire dome with a movie. We have public programs one weekend per month on Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons. The planetarium is also available for school field trips and private shows, by appointment.

Only open one weekend per month on Friday evenings 6:00 and 7:30pm showings and Saturday afternoons 2:00 and 3:30pm showings for public viewing.
Check show schedule on website for exact days and times.
If you plan on visiting I would call first or check the website as their schedule is very limited. Also tickets only go on sale 30 minutes before the show so you can’t plan far in advance.

Public shows at the Downing Planetarium are on selected Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons.
Tickets will go on sale, at the planetarium, 30 minutes before showtime. We are no longer taking reservations for our public shows. Shows start promptly on schedule.

They offer the shows
5000 Eyes: Mapping the Universe with DESI a fulldome film about the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) which is creating the most detailed map of our universe ever attempted.
Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon. Fifty-two years ago, Pink Floyd released their groundbreaking album The Dark Side of the Moon. Now, this iconic record comes to life like never before in an immersive fulldome planetarium experience, featuring stunning visuals from NSC Creative.
321 Liftoff! This family oriented program tells the story of a hamster named Elon. He lives in a junk yard and builds rockets. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. No matter what, excitement is always guaranteed!

Admission cost: Adults $5.00, Seniors (65 and over) $4.00, Students with ID $3.00, Children (3-12) $3.00, Children (under 3) Free.
There is free parking available for our weekend visitors in parking lot P15, next to the planetarium.

Dr. Steven White has agreed to press sets for anyone who wants one. Pennies are .51¢ each and be sure to include enough postage on your SASE. (Self-addressed Stamp Envelope)
