It is best known for the large and beautiful neo-Gothic Church of John the Baptist (Iglesia de San Juan Bautista), which is frequently (and incorrectly) called 'Arucas Cathedral'.
The Penny Machine is outside the Casa Pepe el Arabe gift shop. When approaching the church along Calle Leon y Castillo, it's on the right-hand side just before you get to the church. It takes 5-cent coins and each costs €1 to roll. There are three designs:
1) Church of St John the Baptist,
2) Chimney of the Rum Factory,
3) Local patron saint 'Virgen del Pino'
