Its construction began in 1386 and spanned nearly six centuries, finally concluding in 1965. The building is constructed of brick encased in rare Candoglia marble, which gives it a distinct pinkish-white hue. It is the largest church in the Italian Republic and ranks as one of the largest Christian cathedrals in the world.
Hours of operation: Monday through Sunday 09.00 (9:00 am) to 19.00 (7:00 pm).
Admission: You must pay admission to access the roof and the machine. There are several prices for tickets to access the roof. You can buy combination tickets that includes Cathedral access. Roof access using an elevator, using just stairs and Fast Track pass are available from €18 to €32; see the website. There are parking garages for a fee around the area.
Bring correct change, none is available on the rooftop.
Machine 1 is on the rooftop of the Duomo near the entry stairs. Cost to press: €2.05 each design (€2 coin and a 5 Euro cent coin). Designs all have a beaded border with 'Duomo di Milano':

There have been 3 other machines at one time here; one with the same exact designs and two others that have the same designs except the statue design is "I Love Milan".
