In a town dating back to 1851, officially Nevada’s oldest, the building the Genoa Country Store lives in has had quite a history, first opening as a boarding house for Italian workers in the 1800s. The business within has changed over the years, ranging from a hotel, to bars, markets, and even a U.S. Post Office. At the Genoa Country Store, opened in 1999, grab a homemade meal, or grab something to go from a nearly complete market brimming with snacks and refreshments of all kinds. The store is across the street from the Genoa Bar and Saloon, the oldest bar in the state of Nevada which opened in 1853.
