9 passe du phare [D2] NOUVELLE AQUITAINE - Jau-Dignac-et-Loirac, France, 33590 Phone: +33 55 609 5239 Website Phare de Richard is a historic, picturesque lighthouse famous for its unique dual towers: the first 59 foot (18m) stone lighthouse was built in 1843 and a taller 102 foot (31m) metal one (the one visitors see today) was added in 1870. It is surrounded by iconic carrelet fishing huts on stilts, serving as a cultural landmark, museum, and scenic spot for exploring local maritime heritage, fishing, and landscapes. Today, the Phare de Richard site houses the Museum of Oyster Farming and Fishing, as well as a small museum dedicated to lighthouses and beacons.
Hours of operation: March through October Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 08.00 (8:00 am) to 12.00 (12:00 pm Noon) then 13.00 (1:00 pm) to 17.00 (5:00 pm), Wednesday 08.00 (8:00 am) to 12.00 (12:00 pm Noon), Saturday 09.00 (9:00 am) to 12.00 (12:00 pm Noon), Closed Sunday and Monday.
Admission: Free admission to the grounds. Plenty of parking on-site.
Machine 1 is by the entrance. Cost to press: €1.05 each design (1€ coin and a 5 Euro cent coin). Designs all have a beaded border:
