Square de la Guicharde is a park adjacent to the north of the Grottes du Régulus (Régulus caves). The caves of the Régulus owe their name to a French warship, "Le Régulus", sunk by its captain in 1814, so that it would not fall into the hands of the English. Originally created by nature, the natural cavities were enlarged by man to become real troglodyte dwellings in the 19th century. Hollowed out in the white limestone cliffs, they were used successively as grain stores, hiding places for smugglers, shelters for Protestants, housing for the poor, and taverns. During the 1980s, the caves were acquired by the municipality and, after various developments, were opened to the public in 1986.

Hours of operation: Monday through Sunday 24 hours for the park. Régulus caves are open April 5 to November 11, Monday through Sunday from 10.30 (10:30 am) to 12.30 (12:30 pm) and from 14.00 (2:00 pm) to 17.30 (5:30 pm). In July and August from 10.00 (10:00 am) to 18.30 (6:30 pm).

Admission: Free admission to the park. There is an admission charge to visit the Régulus caves. Car parking is near the Square de la Guicharde around 330 feet (100 meters) before the caves. It is also possible to park your car along the road. There is a free car park in Meschers.

Machine 2 is a Euroscope dual function machine that presses euro cents OR dispenses a "Memoeuro" souvenir banknote (currency replicas).

Machine 2 Euro cent (Placed 9/2024) is outside in the Square de la Guicharde (city forest / green area) on the way to the caves. Cost to press: €2 each design (A 2€ coin OR two 1€ coins only. Machine does not give change). The "penny" will be pressed on a supplied 5 Euro cent. Designs all have 'Grottes du Régulus':

Machine 2 Memoeuro (Placed 9/2024) is outside in the Square de la Guicharde (city forest / green area) on the way to the caves (next house number is opposite the 180). Cost to dispense: €3. The coin slot will accept one €2 coin and one €1 coin only Machine does not give change. Design:
