13 Les Perots de Chassiron [CD Nord 734] NOUVELLE AQUITAINE - Saint Denis d'Oléron, France, 17650 Phone: +33 546 751 862 Website Originally built in 1836, the site of the Chassiron lighthouse was entirely rehabilitated in 2007. After climbing the 150 foot (46 meters) height with 224 steps, visitors will discover a unique 360° panorama. The highest point of the island, it is possible to observe the northern half of the island of Oléron, the ocean, the Pertuis d'Antioche, the Rochelaise coast as well as the islands of Aix and Ré without forgetting the mythical Fort Boyard. Visitors to the museum will discover the life of the Oléronnais, land sailors and sea farmers, through their daily life and their know-how. The visit is illustrated by traditional objects and models.
Hours of operation: October 1 to March 31 10.30 (10:30 am) to 17.00 (5:00 pm), April 1 to June 30 10.00 (10:00 am) to 19.00 (7:00 pm), July 1 to August 31 09.30 (9:30 am) to 20.30 (8:30 pm), September 1 to September 31 10.00 (10:00 am) to 19.00 (7:00 pm). Closed on December 25, January 1 and January 16.
Admission: You do not have to pay admission to access the machine. Adult €4.60, Children (6 to 13 years old) €3.00, Children under 6 years old are free.
Free parking.
Machine 1 may be outside by the parking lot or within the souvenir area by the Les Dauphins Restaurant. Operates with €1 + 5cent coins per design. Designs all have a solid ringed border:
1. (V) Lighthouse with 'Phare de Chasslron'.
2. (H) Fort Boyard with 'Fort Boyard'.
