Corbett, OR , 97019-9725 Phone: (503) 344-1368 Website The Vista House was built in 1917 on one of the most beautiful scenic points on the Historic Columbia River Highway; the summit of Crown Point. Once called “Thor’s Heights,” Crown Point is a basalt promontory shaped by the same volcanic lava flows, floods and winds that created the Columbia River Gorge. Vista House was constructed to provide travelers a place to rest and refresh themselves as they made their way down the Columbia River Gorge. The octagonal building with its green ceramic tile roof houses a museum, gift shop and interpretive display of historic and geologic points of interest in the Gorge.
Hours of operation: Friday through Tuesday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Closed Wednesday, Thursday and for extreme heat or cold, high winds and dangerous road conditions. Call ahead to verify if open.
Admission: Free admission to the Vista House and Gift shop. An Oregon State Parks parking permit is required. A QR code is posted on a sign outside the Vista House to obtain the parking permit. A penny book is for sale within the gift shop for $8.00.
Do be aware that it can get very humid downstairs, especially during the summer months!
Machine 1 is downstairs in the gift shop right by the entrance to it. Cost to press: $1 each design ($1.00 dollar bill only; no quarters accepted) on pre-loaded Zinc pennies. Designs all have a pennycollector.com beaded border:

7/13/24- Visited the Vista House today. The machine has an out of order sign on it.
June 25, 2026. Visited today not realizing that they were closed. Updated information on website, hours of operation and parking fees.
August 2, 2026. Penny machine is rolling well centered excellent images on 97.5% zinc 2.5% copper post-1982 pennies. The leaping salmon design is out of order. 1" Mini-Tokens are of excellent quality. I did not purchase the full sized tokens. MWHTH |
