Walk the same halls as history's most infamous prisoners. Immerse yourself into the foundation that formed The Shawshank Redemption. Whether you're hunting for the paranormal or simply looking to tour the beautiful architecture, you can find it here at The Ohio State Reformatory.

Machine 1 is located inside by the gift shop. This is a four design hand crank machine:
1) "Shawshank State Prison",
2) "Old Sparky", Electric Chair, (2018)
3) "Ohio State Reformatory".
4) “Haunted Reformatory”, a tree in graveyard (2018)

Machine 2:
1) 'Get Busy Livin', hammer
2) 'Blood Prison', a ghost (different from the retired coin shown below);
3) 'Ohio State Reformatory 1896-1990', Prison building
4) Ghost (different from retired coin shown below)

Machines #1 and #2 are located just inside the exit of the gift shop. As you face the building, it is the far right door. Door may say exit only but you can go in and press pennies without taking the tour.

Machine 3: machine located in the Industrial Museum portion of the facility. I believe it can only be accessed with paid admission. 4 $0.50 designs.
Need scan/ photo of designs on a plain white background.

Retired from Machine 1: 1) Ohio State Reformatory Ghost Hunt, 2) The rear design "BUILT IN 1886 MANSFIELD, OHIO".

6/15/25: Machine 2 was working fine. 6/22/25: Machine 2 rolling short as usual. Machine 1 out of order. Machine 3 working perfectly on copper cents; the designs honor local Mansfield-area industries (which is the topic of the museum). jnm
