The Kalahari Resort is named after the Kalahari Desert in southern Africa, hence the African theme at all the resorts. The lobbies have artificial fountains, trees, and animals. Special African-themed events, such as getting photographed with baby tigers, are also held. Most of the water slides in the water parks are named after African animals, such as the Rippling Rhino and the Wild Wildebeest. Other services at the Kalahari include restaurants, gift shops, and sweet shops.

Kalahari Resorts in Sandusky has three penny presses. As of August 2025, each one now uses 3 quarters and your penny. For all three machines, the side of the penny facing the quarters will receive the impression from the press.

Machine 3: designs; Located on the main floor elevator corridor near the convention center:

Machine 4: Designs: Located at the bottom of the stairs leading from the lobby to the Arcade on level 1, and to the left.
1) 'My Lucky Penny', four-leaf clover above the horseshoe
2) 'United We Stand USA', US Flag in the middle
3) 'I (Heart) You'.

Medallion Machine 1: (4 medallions) is located off the lobby in the elevator corridor, right beside the Zoltar machine. ($5 each, 4 for $15)

Retired 1: 1) Elephant with Resort name over and City and State under.

12/28/2025 Machine 4: United We Stand design was working. My lucky penny design was not pressing correctly. Did not try I love you design.
Machine 3 is no longer located near the elevator bank. Asked a couple of employees, but no one knew where it had been moved to and may no longer be there.
