The Kalahari Resort is named after the Kalahari Desert in southern Africa, hence the African theme at all the resorts. The lobbies have artificial fountains, trees, and animals. Special African-themed events, such as getting photographed with baby tigers, are also held. Most of the water slides in the water parks are named after African animals, such as the Rippling Rhino and the Wild Wildebeest. Other services at the Kalahari include restaurants, gift shops, and sweet shops.

Kalahari Resorts in Sandusky has three penny presses. As of August 2025, each one now uses 3 quarters and your penny. For all three machines, the side of the penny facing the quarters will receive the impression from the press.

Machine 3: designs; Located on the main floor elevator corridor near the convention center:
1) Giraffe

4) Two Monkeys

Machine 4: Designs: Located at the bottom of the stairs leading from the lobby to the Arcade on level 1, and to the left.
1) 'My Lucky Penny', four-leaf clover above the horseshoe
2) 'United We Stand USA', US Flag in the middle
3) 'I (Heart) You'.

Medallion Machine 1: (4 medallions) is located off the lobby in the elevator corridor, right beside the Zoltar machine. ($5 each, 4 for $15)

Retired 1: 1) Elephant with Resort name over and City and State under.
Retired 2: 1) Elephant standing in trunks, 2) Elephant head over name, 3) Elephant head left of name

Machine 2 has now been retired.
Machine 3 has all four designs, but the one you choose is not the design you get. Monkeys gave Tiger Cub, Giraffe gave Zebra, Zebra was Giraffe, Tiger was Monkeys. (I believe this is still the same from two years ago. However, I was not able to test it when I went because I did not know where the machine was located.)
