The cable car, inaugurated in 1932, climbs very steeply due to the near vertical face of the ridge, with an ascension of 2,182 feet (665m) in an overall length of 3,845 feet (1,172m) taking 4 minutes to achieve. The base station in Étrembières is at an altitude of 1,417 feet (432m), while the top station at 3,600 feet (1,097m). Each cable car cabin can hold up to 60 people.
Hours of operation: Check website for seasonal times. Winter Season: January 17, 2026 through April 1, 2026 Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 09.00 (9:00 am) to 16.45 (4:45 pm). Closed November 3 to January 17, 2026 for major inspection work and maintenance.
Admission: Round trip tickets: Adult (20 to 64 years old) €18, Students, Seniors (65 and over) young people (16 to 19 years old) €13, Children (4 to 15 years old) €6.50, Children under 4 years old are free. Free parking at the departure station.
Machine 1 is in front of the entrance to the valley station of the cable car. The cost is 1 euro and a 5-cent coin. Designs all have a beaded border:
