Place Amiral Dupont NOUVELLE AQUITAINE - Rochefort, France, 17300 Phone: +33 546 448 940 Website After its historic crossing of the Atlantic in 1780 with Gilbert du Motier (Marquis de La Fayette), who left to support American insurgents during the War of Independence, the Hermione is now an emblematic ship in French history. This ship was built in Rochefort and sank off the Croisic in 1793. This magnificent three-masted has regained its splendor, thanks to meticulous traditional reconstruction, and has been able to sail again. The reconstruction of the ship L'Hermione began in Rochefort in 1997 and was completed in 2014. The boat, currently at the port of Bayonne, was rebuilt according to the plans of a frigate of the same series, with traditional techniques and authentic materials. The Hermione is now a magnificent frigate that has been able to navigate European and American waters.
