Comments:	Donald Glenn "Don" Garlits (born January 14, 1932, Tampa, Florida) is considered the father of drag racing. He is known as "Big Daddy" to drag racing fans around the world. Always a pioneer in the field of drag-racing, he, helped perfect the rear-engine "top fuel dragster design". Garlits was an early promoter of a full-body, fire-resistant suit - complete with socks and gloves.<br> Garlits was the first drag racer to officially surpass 170, 180, 200, 240, 250, 260, and 270 miles per hour in the quarter mile; he was also the first to top 200 in the 1/8 mile. He has been inducted in numerous halls of fame and has won numerous awards during his career.<p> Both machines are die-electric, and cost $0.51 per press. Both are single design machines. Both have Ocala, Florida with a beaded border around the edge. <b>Machine 1</b>: Top Fuel Dragster with "Don Garlits' Museum of Drag Racing" (h) <p> <b>Machine 2</b>: Chevrolet Coupe with "Garlits' Classic Cars" (h)<p> 1/27/25 I had phone called this location before I came to Florida and the workers were expecting me. The workers let me go into the two seperate buildings for free just to use the machines. -- TM from NY. 7/17/25: I called before visiting and the super friendly young lady on the phone spoke with the ticket booth employees and told them that I was coming. When I arrived, they allowed me to visit both machines without paying entry to the museum. Both machines are rolling a bit short on zinc but the design is still fully legible. Added photos of machines.
