The cafe and gift shop are on the first right once you enter the park's main entrance past the Ranger ticket booth (not attached; these are separate buildings!). The per person entrance fee is required to access in addition to parking or shuttle fees. Be aware that the Gift Shop/Cafe hours are different from park hours.
Parking reservation is now $10.00 or the shuttle costs $4 per person. Park entry fees are additional per person, and may be bought online with parking or at the park in person. A reservation for parking or the shuttle MUST be obtained online prior to entering the park or you will be denied entry. Parking reservations are timed to a 30-minute arrival window. The shuttle runs on weekends (Fri-Sun) and federal holidays from early spring through September, and on Saturdays and Sundays in October. Shuttle reservations are required for both departure and return shuttle rides.
The machine is still outside the gift shop by the large carved bears. Cost per press is 51 cents and you use your own penny. Designs are:
1) Bust of John Muir
2) Owl
3) Giant Redwood tree
3) Grove of Redwoods
Purchased a Silver and a Gold token:
Need scan Picture of token, both sides, on a plain white background.
4/23: Purchased silver token up at register in gift shop
5/23 They no longer have a penny collector book.
6/04/2026: The tree design rolls short cutting off all the words at the bottom, but all other designs roll fully.
Someone added a matt under the machine to prevent coins from slipping between the wood planks if dropped. BTF |
