Comments:	The Palazzo Storico del Mercato (officially known as the Antico Mercato di Siracusa) is a historic 1900s building located near the Temple of Apollo in Ortigia, the historical center of Syracuse, Sicily. Originally built to house the city's main indoor fish and produce market, the structure is notable for its classical design, featuring a portico of 24 arches, 36 shop windows, and a central open-air courtyard with an ornamental fountain. While the indoor building was closed due to dilapidation, the market relocated into the surrounding streets. The palazzo itself is now used as a civic venue for art exhibitions, music festivals, and local farmers' markets. The open-air Ortigia Market spills out onto Via Emanuele De Benedictis. It is highly celebrated for its glistening fresh seafood, seasonal Sicilian produce, and world-famous street food delis like the legendary Caseificio Borderi and Fratelli Burgio. <p> Hours of operation: Unknown; machines may be removed when the outdoor market is closed.
